Garden Sauna: Outdoor wellness at home

Looking to enjoy sauna bathing in the fresh air? A KLAFS garden sauna transforms your outdoor space into a private wellness retreat. Feel the warmth, unwind, and take time for yourself, right in your own garden. It’s a personal ritual in a space that’s truly yours, offering relaxation whenever you need it.

Investing in your wellbeing with a garden sauna

Imagine coming home and winding down at the end of the day in your private outdoor sauna, nestled in the comfort of your own garden, the perfect place to connect with nature and revitalise body and mind. In a KLAFS sauna house, you'll find the perfect retreat where you can enjoy throughout the seasons. A modern sauna for your patio or garden is a guarantee for exclusive moments of relaxation and selfcare. At KLAFS, the age-old tradition of sauna bathing meets innovation - high-quality, weather-resistant materials and sophisticated design make our garden saunas an experience for the senses, and a real standout design feature to the garden landscape.

During a sauna session, the dilation of blood vessels can stimulate circulation and metabolism, supporting the skin’s natural ability to expel toxins. By alternating between intense heat, cooling down, and relaxation phases, especially outdoors on your patio, you gently activate your cardiovascular and immune systems. Follow the tried-and-tested principles of sauna bathing for noticeable balance and long-lasting relaxation.

Even in summer, taking a sauna and relaxing is the perfect way to spend a lovely day, allowing you to recharge your batteries.

If you decide to buy a garden sauna, you'll be bringing your own personal spa into your home for year-round enjoyment. Traditional garden saunas & modern, innovative design concepts

Integrating your garden sauna

To ensure your sauna blends seamlessly into your outdoor space, KLAFS experts focus on achieving harmony with the surroundings. This includes selecting suitable materials and colour tones, as well as determining the ideal placement. We’re also happy to help coordinate accessories to suit your individual preferences. Let your sauna become a natural extension of your garden and enjoy wellness exactly the way you want.

Choosing the right location for your garden sauna

When planning a custom-made sauna, careful consideration of its placement can enhance the overall experience. A location with a beautiful view of nature can amplify the relaxing effect and create a true wellness retreat. Let our ideas inspire you to find the perfect spot for your garden sauna.

Key factors to consider:

  • a pleasant view of your garden, trees, or open landscapes
  • a peaceful setting that offers privacy
  • a balanced mix of sun and shade throughout the day
  • proximity to a pool or natural swimming pond for a refreshing cool-down
  • a level foundation for optimal stability
  • access to electricity and drainage (e.g. drainpipe) – we’re happy to advise on requirements, especially for the larger TALO model

When location and design are in harmony, your sauna becomes more than just a wellness feature – it becomes a source of everyday quality of life.

PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

8 steps to a garden sauna

1. PRELIMINARY CONSIDERs
Garden sauna considerations
When planning a garden sauna, ask yourself the following questions: How many people will regularly use the outdoor sauna? | How much space do you have in your garden? | Do you want to place your sauna in the garden or on the terrace? | What do you want to see from there? | How important is privacy to you? | What is your budget for purchasing your modern garden sauna?
2. CONSULTING FROM KLAFS
Planning with the experts
Choosing a modern outdoor sauna is an investment in your health and quality of life. The right location, the right model, and the optimal sauna equipment can make all the difference when it comes to getting the most out of your wellness experience. Take your time to consider your options. Our KLAFS experts will be happy to advise you.
3. SIZE AND FLOOR PLAN
The floor plan
With a variety of floor plan options, such as a sauna with an anteroom, versatile glass fronts, and numerous design options, the KLAFS garden sauna can be perfectly adapted to your needs and the design of your garden. Before purchasing your garden sauna, get detailed advice on which size best suits your needs, and which equipment options are suitable for you.
4. THE DESIGN
The material
There are a wide variety of design options for your sauna's exterior and interior cladding. Whether it's varnished wood cladding, metallic finishes, a chameleon look, or fibre cement - the choice is yours. Our robust exterior cladding is suitable for all weather conditions. For the interior cladding, we offer a wide range of woods, such as Softline Spruce, Natural Ash, Walnut, Wenge, or reclaimed wood imitation.
5. THE SAUNA HEATER
The suitable sauna climate
Our experts are also happy to help you choose the right sauna heater for the size of your garden sauna. With a SANARIUM® heater, you can enjoy five different bathing styles in your private garden sauna. The VITALITY BOOST add-on brings automatic infusion comfort to your sauna; the voice-controlled infusion with optimal air circulation ensures an intensive workout for your cardiovascular system.
6. THE EQUIPMENT
cosiness and comfort
Lighting elements ranging from minimalist to playful, from invisible to striking to cosy, contribute to a particularly pleasant atmosphere in your sauna. Choose from coloured lights, starry skies, the dimmable SUNSET backrest lighting, pendant lights, or reading lamps. MOLLIS® sauna cushions and mats also enhance the comfort and cosy feel.
7. DELIVERY AND ASSEMBLY
Setting up your garden sauna
Delivery and installation vary depending on the garden sauna. The small TARAS outdoor sauna is assembled in one piece using a crane, which the KLAFS team will organise and take care of the installation for you. Due to its size, the TALO sauna requires more complex assembly and installation is carried out by our trained specialist fitters.

While each KLAFS sauna house is unique, they all share the same uncompromising quality. Crafted from premium wood with expert workmanship, every model is RAL, VDE, and GS tested, and comes with a one-year on-site warranty for private use. So you can relax with complete peace of mind.

Garden Sauna FAQ

The cost of an outdoor sauna depends on the model, size, and features. High-quality garden saunas can be in the five-figure range. For a precise price, we recommend obtaining a personalised quote directly from KLAFS.

An indoor sauna can't be set up outdoors because it's not designed for the specific weather conditions for example, it won’t have the necessary insulation required for outside. KLAFS offers saunas specifically designed for outdoor use.

Choosing the right sauna heater for your garden sauna depends on several factors, such as the size of the sauna, the desired temperature control, and personal preferences regarding sauna types. KLAFS offers a range of heater models to meet different needs.

Whether you need a special foundation for your garden sauna depends on the type of construction. Our TARAS outdoor sauna can be easily installed on reinforced concrete foundations, terraces, ground screws, roof terraces, or adjustable feet. The larger TALO outdoor sauna generally requires a reinforced concrete foundation.

In most cases, garden saunas fall under permitted development and don’t require planning permission in the UK. However, if the sauna is large, close to property boundaries, or used commercially, or if your property is listed or in a protected area, permission may be needed. Always check with your local planning authority before installation.

It depends on your personal preference. Some people enjoy sauna sessions several times a week, while others use them occasionally. For lasting health benefits, such as a stronger immune system, improved cardiovascular function, and better protection against viruses, regular use is recommended.

Many people find sauna sessions especially enjoyable during the colder months. Stepping out into the crisp winter air after a hot sauna enhances the contrast between heat and cold, a key part of the traditional sauna experience.

This depends on the size, complexity, and customisation. Simple models can be completed quickly, while bespoke designs take longer. The KLAFS TARAS sauna is delivered fully prefabricated and can be installed in just one day.

The durability of a garden sauna depends on the materials, build quality, and maintenance. High-grade wood and professional insulation help withstand temperature changes and humidity. With regular care and protective treatments, your sauna will remain weather-resistant and long-lasting. For detailed advice, our KLAFS specialists are happy to help.
