Wellness and Spa Hotel Beatus
IDEA & CONCEPTION
Wellbeing, mindfulness, and the conscious act of slowing down are becoming increasingly important in our daily lives – and with that, so too is the ritual of taking time out in saunas and spas. Wellness is far from a modern invention; in fact, it was an essential part of daily life as far back as Roman times, over 2,000 years ago.
At the BEATUS Wellness & Spa Hotel in the Bernese Oberland, the spa area was originally designed in a traditional Roman style. But times have changed. The Roman aesthetic had become outdated and no longer reflected the spirit of the region or the expectations of today’s guests. A fresh approach was needed – one that brought nature back into the space and embraced a more contemporary vision of wellness.
AS MUCH AS NECESSARY, AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE
Hotel BEATUS had just seven weeks to complete the renovation – a tight timeframe that demanded a reliable partner known for both speed and precision. KLAFS, having already proven their expertise during a previous renovation, was the natural choice. The aim was to make as few structural changes as possible, yet enough to create the feeling of a completely new, high-quality wellness experience – all while guests were away on holiday. The core structure was to remain intact, with existing saunas and steam baths carefully integrated into the refreshed design.
